About the Role

Sulzer is seeking a highly skilled High-Speed Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Maitland. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for disassembling, repairing, and reassembling mechanical equipment, with a focus on turbines and pumps.

We offer a competitive salary package, estimated to be around $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience. This includes overtime opportunities, job security, and career growth prospects.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  1. Disassembling, repairing, and reassembling mechanical equipment, with a focus on turbines and pumps.
  2. Conducting balancing of mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment.
  3. Carrying out mechanical repairs on shafts, journals, housings, and other components.
  4. Performing critical tasks such as de-blading and re-blading steam and gas turbines.
  5. Handling high-speed rotating equipment, particularly steam and gas turbines.
  6. Reading and recording precise measurements, filling out detailed check sheets to meet quality standards.
  7. Repairing or replacing worn parts such as shafts, gears, seals, impellers, fans, and bearings.
  8. Ensuring equipment is cleaned and maintained using steamers, washers, and other cleaning methods.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A Trade Certificate III in Fitting & Turning (or similar).
  2. Proven hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, especially with large equipment like pumps, gearboxes, fans, and turbines.
  3. A strong focus on precision, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
  4. A passion for working with high-speed rotating machinery, particularly turbines and pumps.
