Senior Project Officer Role

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to Australia's Defence capability. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in project management or coordination in a Defence or government environment.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high-level project support across multiple Defence initiatives, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and Defence policy.

  • Project planning, scheduling, reporting, and risk management activities will be coordinated by the selected candidate.
  • Strategic advice will be provided to senior stakeholders on project performance.
  • Briefings, reports, and documentation will be prepared for internal and external audiences.
  • Liaison will be maintained with stakeholders including Defence contractors, government agencies, and industry partners.

About this Role:

  • Proven experience in project management or coordination is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Defence project governance and capability lifecycle is required.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, actionable recommendations is essential.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to working in a security-sensitive environment is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (NV1 or above) is necessary.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Business, Public Administration, or related field are preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a project or program support role is required.
  • Experience using project management tools is desirable.
  • PRINCE2, AgilePM, or PMP certification is an advantage.
