As a Disability Support Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-level, evidence-based support to individuals with disabilities.
Under the direct supervision of senior support professionals, you will empower families, staff, and managers through effective training and implementation of personalized support plans, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-the-floor coaching and modelling to stakeholders, ensuring competence in support strategies.
- Implement and evaluate the effectiveness of personalized support plans, reporting insights back to senior support professionals for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with senior support professionals to follow written behaviour reduction plans.
- Capture observational data and take notes to support the refinement of support strategies.
- Ensure compliant implementation of approved Restrictive Practices under professional guidance.
- Meet operational, clinical, legal, and performance targets.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in disability support, particularly with individuals exhibiting high and challenging behaviours.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and frameworks related to restrictive practices and person-centred approaches.
- High-level interpersonal skills with a proven ability to support individuals in emotionally charged situations.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating support for individuals with disabilities and their families.
- Well-developed understanding of person-centred approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear stakeholder engagement.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a systematic approach.
Qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent experience.
- Completion of (or currently pursuing) Registered Behaviour Technician Course (40 hours).
- Current Open Driver's Licence.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- NDIS Worker Orientation certificate completed.
