We are seeking a seasoned manager with exceptional leadership abilities to establish and lead a new team focused on ensuring the implementation of COMSEC risk management, governance, and control procedures in accordance with policy requirements and operational effectiveness.

As Assistant Director - KMO COMSEC Compliance and Audit, you will lead a small team ensuring the implementation of COMSEC procedures and policies. You will provide independent oversight of key management activities, assess COMSEC incidents, provide mitigations to remediate compromises, perform COMSEC audits of stakeholder activities and capability, and review key management activities undertaken by stakeholders.

To achieve this, you will build and sustain effective relationships with stakeholders; identify opportunities for improvement in COMSEC and translate them into procedures and policies; and build capability through coaching, feedback, and enhancing the quality of work undertaken by your team.

About Our Team

KMO is responsible for providing keying material for Defence and other Government organisations use in classified networks. KMO also provides critical policy instructions and guidance that ensure the effective management of communications security (COMSEC) material and equipment, and provides oversight of incidents related to the use of high assurance equipment and keying material used within these classified networks.

Our team has a diverse workforce bringing experience from ADF and Defence, intelligence, university, and industry with technical, operations, and policy skills and knowledge.

The successful applicant will have a proven ability to lead change initiatives from concept to completion. In addition, the successful applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills and strong decision-making capabilities. The successful applicant should have an understanding of compliance, governance, audit, and policy, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities.
