Position Purpose

The Disability Support Worker will provide flexible and individualised support to participants, facilitating their involvement in daily activities and living skills programs across all services.

Essential Requirements:

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability or Aged Care
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • 100 points of ID (Citizenship/Passport/Driver License/Visa & Granted Form, Medicare Card or government Issued Document)
  • Police Clearance
  • First Aid + CPR
  • Manual Handling

Compulsory Training:

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:- Understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting participants to perform important daily activities and home based tasks.
  2. Providing short-term focused interventions, psycho-education, and mentoring.
  3. Facilitating daily personal hygiene and care tasks.
  4. Assisting with coordinating and facilitating community access.
  5. Providing emotional support and encouragement.
  6. Facilitating participant communication and enhancing their choice and decision-making processes.
  7. Implementing and monitoring Behaviour Management Strategies as required.
  8. Goal Planning and tracking
  9. Empowering participants with learning, skill development and employment.
  10. Transporting participants to medical and other appointments, and social activities as required
  11. Upholding the rights, independence and dignity of all participants, ensuring confidentiality and their choices are recognised at all times.
