Turf Manager

Job Description:

The Turf Manager plays a pivotal role in the Racecourse Team, responsible for overseeing and coordinating turf operations to the highest standards of workmanship, presentation, and safe work practices.

This position is integral to planning and delivering world-class racing and training tracks, as well as providing exceptional service to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertaking or supervising all turf-related activities, including spraying, mowing, turf replacement, renovations, and track repairs.
  • Managing and maintaining grounds and turf facilities, including turf surfaces, irrigation systems, and equipment.
  • Assisting in developing and implementing comprehensive turf management plans, including regular maintenance schedules, pest and weed control, and fertilization programs.
  • Monitoring and assessing the health and condition of the turf, ensuring the appropriate measures are taken to maintain the course to the highest standard.
  • Overseeing and mentoring a team of turf maintenance staff, ensuring proper training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  • Supervising contractors and updating the task management system.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with industry stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, including regulatory requirements and Occupational Safety and Health legislation.
