Job Title: Structures Manufacturing Engineer

This role requires a highly skilled engineer to design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes for structures within our organization.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, aerospace, or materials science, with a strong background in production and manufacturing. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the manufacturing process is efficient, effective, and meets quality standards.

The Structures Subassemblies Build team is responsible for creating rapidly manufacturable assemblies for Starship and the Super Heavy Booster. As a member of this team, you will work closely with vehicle analysts and design teams to ensure solutions meet vehicle design and manufacturing process requirements.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop production procedures and manage the transition of primary structures and assemblies from development to high-rate production.
  • Work closely with production technicians on the production line, driving meaningful changes to parts, processes, planning, and tooling to improve the overall production system.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, be able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, and demonstrate a strong understanding of design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA). Additionally, they should have experience working in tight quarters and be physically dexterous.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or production

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, materials, or industrial engineering
  • Experience with DFMA and physical dexterity in tight quarters
