Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled leading hand carpenter to join our team in Newcastle, Australia. This role involves overseeing a small crew, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and motivate carpenters and trade assistants to achieve exceptional results.
  • Allocate tasks and monitor progress to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and housekeeping standards, promoting a healthy and efficient working environment.
  • Coordinate with other trades such as electricians and boilermakers to ensure smooth collaboration and communication.
  • Conduct quality checks and provide on-the-job training to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Carpentry Trade Certificate III or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience in construction, with a minimum of 2 years in a leading hand or supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills to drive success and productivity.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and meet deadlines, demonstrating excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Personal hand tools and a current driver's license are essential requirements.
  • Relevant tickets such as forklift, EWP, dogman, and confined space are highly regarded but not mandatory.
