EAL/D Teacher Position

The Catholic Education Office invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this permanent part-time position as an EAL/D Teacher at St John the Evangelist Catholic Parish Primary School, Campbelltown commencing at the start of Term 1, 2025.
Position DescriptionThis position sits within the Learning K-12 Team, requiring significant experience in curriculum and the capacity to support EAL/D students within Primary Schools. This role is part of a wider EAL/D team and as such, the EAL/D Teacher will be required to:
- Collaborate with the School Leadership Team and CEDoW EAL/D Officers.
- Work within the school team to implement the EAL/D Management Plan responsibilities.
- Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities to build teacher capacity.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and respond to the collection of student work samples and assessment data.
- Support EAL/D students' learning needs through a range of pedagogical processes, including collaborative planning, co-teaching with classroom teachers, and the design of student learning plans.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church. They will also possess a well-articulated understanding and application of student-centred, quality EAL/D pedagogical practices grounded in current evidence-based research.
The applicant will be able to identify EAL/D students' needs and plan for appropriate student support K-6. They will apply expert knowledge of the diverse needs of students of EAL/D to support their full participation in learning.
The successful applicant will facilitate the analysis of student work samples using the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions (and/or The ESL Scales) to direct teaching and learning. They will use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning.
The applicant will demonstrate commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers, and the wider school community.
General CapabilitiesThe successful applicant will possess well-developed interpersonal skills, well-developed oral and written communication skills, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
QualificationsThe applicant will hold University TESOL training or a willingness to undertake such training. They will also possess appropriate qualifications for teaching Primary K-6 and be accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.
The applicant must be accredited with NESA to teach in NSW and hold a Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to employment with CEDoW.
