Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Central Coast Police Districts, you will play a vital role in fostering strong relationships with local Aboriginal communities.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing advice and support to commands on local Aboriginal issues. You will assist in establishing and maintaining close personal rapport with Elders, Leaders, and community members by developing network contacts to strengthen co-operation and communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to commands on Aboriginal-related matters;
- Develop and maintain relationships with local Aboriginal communities, including Elders and Leaders;
- Assist community members with policing issues and interactions with other statutory bodies;
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve district goals and objectives;
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to improve police-Aboriginal community relations.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and protocols;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Highly developed problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Experience working in a similar role or within an Indigenous organization is highly regarded.
