Seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD). This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a supportive and dedicated coding environment.

About the Role

In this position, you will be responsible for providing clinical coding services to NSLHD. As a medical coder, your primary responsibility is to accurately translate narrative descriptions of diseases, injuries, and procedures into alphanumeric codes using ICD-10-AM and assign the correct DRG within the NSW Health timeframes.

Key Responsibilities
  • To translate complex medical information into standardized codes using ICD-10-AM and ACHI
  • To assign the correct DRG for each patient record
  • To meet coding throughput and quality KPIs consistently
Requirements
  • Degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • Completion of HIMAA/OTEN coding course or relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Proven experience in coding using ICD-10-AM/ACHI and 3M Codefinder across various specialties
  • Knowledge of Australian Coding Standards and DRGs
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of $1354.64 - $1752.18 per week and 38 hours of work per week. Site is negotiable and remote coding is available for eligible applicants. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
