Senior Legal Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Officer to join our team at the Workplace Injury Commission. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in providing expert legal advice and guidance to our Conciliation and Arbitration teams.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist legal advice and expertise to the Arbitration and Conciliation teams on complex legal issues and questions of law.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and obligations, including the interpretation and application of relevant legislation.
- Support the development of high-quality and reliable operational and strategic legal guidance to our Conciliation and Arbitration Officers.
- Lead and manage a team in the delivery of a high-performing and efficient legal support service, meeting operational objectives and legislative requirements.
- Provide direction, support, feedback, and guidance to the team to ensure a consistently high-quality service.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in law, dispute resolution, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in the interpretation and application of legislation, case law, and regulations, particularly in Victorian Workers' Compensation legislation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience working within, the Victoria Work Cover scheme or similar scheme.
- Experience leading a team of professionals within a complex legislative framework.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a strong client-service orientation and willingness to support internal and external stakeholders.
