Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic Job Description

About the Role
  • Repair and service of heavy-duty road trucks and earth-moving equipment.
  • Caterpillar component rebuilding experience is essential, particularly for engines, transmissions, torque converters and wheel ends.
  • The role involves carrying out repairs and servicing checks, recording work completed and ensuring safe operation with daily pre-start checks.
  • A key aspect of this position is compliance with legislation, regulation and policies, as well as maintaining high standards in terms of safety and efficiency.
  • Responsibilities include maintenance of earth moving machines, particularly CAT and Komatsu, diagnostics and fault finding, and input to the Maintenance Management system.
About You
  • You will need considerable experience within a mining environment, holding Australian trade papers or Australian trades recognition in heavy vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintenance of 777 Dump Trucks, D10 Dozers, 16H Graders and 100T+ Excavators requires specific skills and experience.
  • Servicing a wide range of earth moving equipment such as Caterpillar, Komatsu etc. demands versatility and a high level of technical expertise.
  • To be successful in this role you must be willing to undertake and pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test, including a Commercial Driver Fitness assessment.
  • A current satisfactory National Police Clearance is also required, as well as the right to work in Australia.
