We are seeking an experienced heavy plant operator to join our team. As a key member of the Works department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our council's infrastructure projects.
The RoleAs a heavy plant operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of council plant, including excavators, backhoes, rollers, and loaders. You will work independently and as part of a team to deliver projects on time and within budget.
The successful candidate will have experience working in civil construction environments, with a strong mechanical aptitude to identify faults in heavy plant and apply maintenance or repairs. They will also possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
The position requires the ability to undertake manual handling and labouring tasks for extended periods in hot and humid conditions. You must be physically fit and able to maintain a safe working environment, adhering to correct manual handling techniques at all times.
Key Requirements- Certified and competent plant operator with experience in civil construction environments
- Mechanical aptitude to identify faults in heavy plant and apply maintenance or repairs
- Results-focused individual with strong work ethic and ability to work in a team environment
- Sound written and verbal communication skills with ability to follow instructions
