Job Title: Heavy Plant Operator

Heavy plant operators are essential to our team, responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery.

This is a vital role within our operations at Mareeba Shire Council.

You will be a competent and safe plant operator who works to exact specifications in civil construction environments.
You will have a mechanical aptitude which allows you to recognise faults in heavy plant and apply the correct maintenance or identify the correct repair action to be taken.
You will be a results-focused individual with a strong work ethic who enjoys contributing to a team environment with both team members and supervisors.
You will have sound written and verbal communication skills and be able to follow instructions.
You will have the physical ability to undertake manual handling and labouring tasks for extended periods in hot and humid conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain heavy plant including excavators, backhoes, rollers, loaders, job trucks, and slashers.
Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working order.
Identify and report any faults or issues with heavy plant.
Work effectively as part of a team to achieve project goals.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

LGEA Level 5 - $60,279 per annum.
Mareeba Allowance of $2,080 per annum and other Award allowances as applicable.
