Freight Handler Position Overview

A freight handler is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of goods in a warehouse or distribution center setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Unload trucks, trailers, and containers from deliveries.
  • Scanning of freight using a scanning device.
  • Palletizing of freight to ensure secure storage and transport.
  • Shrink wrapping of pallets to protect against damage.
  • Accurate data entry of inventory and shipping information.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 6 months experience in freight handling.
  • Physical fitness to perform tasks that involve lifting and carrying heavy objects.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attitude towards safety and wellbeing in the workplace.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Valid forklift operator license is required.
  • Medical examination may be necessary prior to employment.
  • Adherence to safe work practices and procedures at all times.
  • Manual handling tasks including loading and unloading trucks.
  • Covid-19 vaccination up to date is mandatory.
