About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineer to join our team at Lockheed Martin Australia. As a key member of our Hardware Engineering team, you will contribute to the development of the AIR6500 Hardware solution and interfaces in the architectural model to the overall program solution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and System Architects to guide hardware requirements and sizing for AIR6500 elements.
  • Establish the product baseline and manage components, parts, and assemblies within the Configuration Management Tool.
  • Author technical documentation and develop Technical Data packs as required.
  • Contribute to the development and conduct of Technical Reviews.
  • Assist with the definition of the AIR6500 solution, accounting for physical interfaces to accommodate future AIR6500 solutions.
  • Conduct design activities, generate 3D models, and conduct Finite Element Analysis as required.
  • Engage with AIR6500 IPTs and Specialty Engineering groups to ensure common understanding of requirements and design considerations.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering, etc.) from a recognized institution, and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry).
  • Knowledge of packaging for the ruggedizing of equipment.
  • Excellent analysis skills with the ability to develop and evaluate alternatives to determine best value based on customer-provided performance weighting.
  • 3D modelling with CREO or other 3D CAD software for concept solutions and engineering analysis.
  • Finite Element Analysis with ANSYS.
  • Shock and Vibration Analysis with numerical methods and/or FEA.
  • Advanced communication and influencing skills, including the ability to prepare and present concise oral and written reports, briefings, updates, and other documentation to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Eligibility to gain an Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data, and information.
