About the Role

Columba Catholic College, Charters Towers, is seeking an experienced and dedicated School Chaplain to commence as soon as practicable. This role is a term time, permanent position completing 8 hours per week.

The successful candidate will foster faith development of students and advance the religious life of the school community. The role involves representing the school in a professional, warm, friendly, and efficient manner, with duties including:

Pastoral and Spiritual Support to Students

  • Provide informal support to students through activities such as playground and classroom interactions, as well as excursions.
  • Mentor and provide practical support to students.

Faith Development Opportunities

  • Coordinate and facilitate reflection and prayer experiences, including reflection days, retreats, forums, meetings, and other similar events.
  • Contribute to the organisation of major school liturgies and celebrations.

Advancing Religious Life

  • Contribute to the development and promotion of a Catholic ethos within the college community.

Fostering Community Experience

  • Support events that promote the collegiate spirit of the school.
  • Initiate contact with families of the school community, under the direction of the Principal, for matters such as sickness or hardship.

Social Justice and Social Action

  • Maintain knowledge and information about social justice support and resource service groups within the school community.

Connections with Church/faith Communities

  • Encourage student involvement in parish faith communities.
  • Foster ecumenical and inter-faith relationships and activities.

Ongoing Professional Learning

  • Participate in relevant professional learning programs facilitated by the Catholic Education Office.
  • Engage in local cluster gatherings of Chaplains for shared learning and networking opportunities.

Administration Support

  • Maintain accurate records and data related to the role.

This role offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, plus superannuation and access to salary packaging options. Other benefits include annual leave with 17.5% leave loading, modern facilities and equipment, access to corporate health schemes, and a supportive working environment.
