Behaviour Veterinarian Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified veterinarian to join our team as a Behaviour Veterinarian. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of behaviour services in a hospital that values clinical excellence, ethical medicine, and genuine work-life balance.
About UsOur hospital is a purpose-built, 24/7 emergency and referral centre with a big vision. We have over 110 team members and are committed to providing best-practice care to animals across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley, and beyond.
- Our model supports collaboration across specialties.
- We are committed to sustainable rosters and healthy caseloads.
As a Behaviour Veterinarian at our hospital, you will have the time, space, and support to do your best work and to keep learning along the way. Our new hospital includes:
- Comfortable spaces for staff to rest and reset.
- A quiet lactation/parents' room, a space to support feeding, expressing, and caring for your child during the workday.
- Eight consult rooms, two surgical theatres, and a dedicated ICU.
- A specialist diagnostic imaging suite with CT, otoscopy, and ultrasound.
- Separate wards for exotics, cats, and infectious patients.
- A full in-house lab and on-site pharmacy.
We know what makes specialist and referral work rewarding and what makes it hard. That's why we offer:
- Visa sponsorship and relocation support.
- Flexible employment arrangements, designed to work around your life.
- Competitive salary + profit share + employee stock ownership.
- Generous CPD support, including paid conference leave and funding for professional memberships.
- Five weeks of annual leave.
- Experienced nursing and support teams.
- A collaborative, values-led culture.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Program, wellbeing initiatives, and a supportive leadership team.
We are looking for a qualified veterinarian with a degree recognized for registration in NSW (e.g., BVSc, DVM, or equivalent). Whether you're looking to lead a new service, join an established one, or blend clinical and teaching interests, we're happy to shape the role to suit the right person. We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in building something meaningful and a commitment to professional integrity, patient-centred care, and team collaboration.
Membership-qualified in behaviour, board-certified, or completion of an approved residency in veterinary behaviour is highly desirable.
Why Newcastle?Newcastle is a great place to live and work. With its coastal location, thriving food and wine scene, and direct flights to major cities, it offers a great lifestyle and clinical opportunity.
