Environmental Sustainability Officer

Our organization seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Environmental Sustainability Officer to join our team. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring environmental excellence and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing applications for environmental authorities, providing recommendations under the Environmental Protection Act 1994, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Applicants must possess extensive knowledge of geology and/or geochemistry to effectively evaluate industrial and mining processes, including waste management and disposal.
- They will work closely with the Minerals Business Centre to assess mineral mining and downstream mineral mining projects across Queensland.
About the Role:
- This position is aligned with the Minerals Business Centre, Environmental Services, and Regulation.
- Candidates will have the opportunity to work on statutory assessment functions for mineral mining and downstream mineral mining projects.
- Additionally, this role has been designated as a First Nations Priority Consideration, underscoring our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess a strong educational background in environmental science or a related field. A deep understanding of environmental regulations and legislation is essential, as well as excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
