Job Description

As a Construction Safety Advisor at NEXTDC Ltd, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving our safety management system for construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include undertaking desktop and on-site safety audits, driving safe work practices, and developing and maintaining construction safety management system procedures.

  • Develop and Maintain Safety Procedures: Create and update safety procedures, guidance material, and other essential documents to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Review and Critique Safety Plans: Examine external partner project-specific safety management plans and client requirements to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in High-Risk Workshops: Collaborate with the project management team to identify and mitigate high-risk situations.
  • Conduct Site Inspections: Regularly inspect construction sites to identify and address safety concerns, ensuring risks are mitigated and compliance is maintained.
  • Complete Site Inspection Reports: Document findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Manage Reporting Processes: Oversee reporting for customer projects and internal reporting to ensure seamless communication and compliance.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A passion for the construction industry and creating safe workplaces.
  • 10+ years of construction site-based experience and 5+ years in a safety-focused role.
  • Diploma or Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation.
