Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated professional to serve as our Indigenous Liaison Officer. This role is crucial in providing advice and guidance to support the planning, development, and implementation of policies, strategies, and programs to attract and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The successful candidate will engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to promote our institution and its Vision, Mission, and Values. Key responsibilities include working with families, staff, students, and leadership teams to facilitate the best outcomes for all stakeholders.

To be effective in this role, you will require demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, needs, and relationships. A comprehensive understanding of issues affecting relationships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with families, staff, students, and leadership teams to achieve optimal outcomes for all stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on policy development and implementation.
  • Maintain a strong cultural focus that extends to addressing broad issues, including cultural awareness within our institution.
  • Leverage relationships within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and our institution to support students.
  • Model and live our institution's values and behaviors.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, needs, and relationships.
  • Comprehensive understanding of issues affecting relationships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Experience or background in Education, with a willingness to participate in and lead professional development activities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • A current Employment Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain.
