Correctional Officer Job Description

The selected candidate will be provided with paid training, including a nationally recognized Certificate III in Correctional Practice, to develop the necessary skills and confidence to excel in this new career path.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of inmates by conducting regular headcounts, searches, and movements.
  • Report any safety or security concerns to maintain a secure environment.
  • Supervise activities such as work programs and visits to ensure they run smoothly.
  • Treat people fairly and consistently while enforcing rules and regulations.

As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for both inmates and staff.

Requirements Of The Role
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Australian or New Zealand Citizen, or Permanent Resident.
  • Willingness to complete the Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
  • Meet the medical standards to be a Correctional Officer and maintain a reasonable level of fitness.
  • No body art or modifications on the face, scalp, ears, neck, or hands, as well as tattoos or modifications of an offensive nature.
