Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate with mechanics, managers, race engineers, and supporting departments to ensure seamless collaboration and optimal car performance.
  • Travel with the team to races and tests to guarantee the car is properly functioning in preparation for successful on-track performance.
  • Ensure all components of the car are safely integrated, secured, and meet technical inspection compliance.
  • Develop and implement daily, weekly, monthly planning with the engineering department for build schedules and service intervals.
  • Maintain a professional and clean appearance of race cars, equipment at the workshop, and the track.
  • Implement inventory tracking systems to monitor parts, service status, and updates required.
  • Verify that all required items of equipment, spare parts, and car options are loaded on transporters.
  • Drive innovation by developing ideas that increase car performance, reliability, and pit-crew efficiency.
  • Meet specified deadlines for race car preparation while delivering high-quality results.
  • Prepare information regarding pre-event preparation for crew and post-event meeting information for race weekends and testing.
  • Produce worklists and car preparation information between events.
  • Accurately record post-event teardown and event information.
  • Effectively communicate with team members during race weekends regarding pit lane changes and daily schedule targets.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to less experienced mechanics to ensure quality control and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Safely operate equipment according to safety specifications, including protective gear usage.
  • Identify safety hazards and report risks immediately to supervisors.
  • Properly use and maintain company property issued during employment, including uniforms, tools, toolboxes, electronic devices, and productivity tools.
  • Represent the team professionally on and off-track premises, treating partners and their guests with respect.
  • Participate in fitness programs designed to maintain professional-level strength and endurance.
  • Aid other team members on additional duties as necessary.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years' experience as Chief Mechanic in Indycar, Sports Cars, or F1 series race cars. Recent experience in British GT or SRO-sanctioned events is beneficial.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of set-up specifications for race cars and relevant safety mechanisms.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with all team members.
  • Meet professional-level performance criteria to be part of the pit crew.
  • Ability to interpret and apply set-up designs for individual race and test events.
  • Intimate knowledge of mechanical components, electronics, and structural frameworks of race cars.
  • Manual experience using lathe, mill, drill press, or band saw.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring devices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, Teams, OneNote, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive.
  • Ability to concentrate on detailed work for extended periods.
  • Awareness of hazardous chemicals and fumes, with knowledge of emergency safety procedures and proper safety equipment usage.
