Learning Support Assistant

About the Role

The School Learning Officer will work closely with classroom teachers to support students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess student learning needs under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Attend meetings with parents, teachers, and specialists to discuss student progress and needs.
  • Work with students according to lesson plans given by the classroom teacher.
  • Provide physical assistance to students as needed.
  • Participate in planning days with team teachers to discuss student needs.
  • Support students with social and emotional needs, including supervising students during time-outs and developing close relationships with students.
  • Adhere to classroom rules, expectations, and behaviour management plans.
  • Assist with in-class support programs as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Report regularly to the classroom teacher on student progress.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

Requirements

  • Hold a Working with Children Blue Card.
  • Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
