**School Learning Officer Position Overview**


Catholic Education Dioceses of Cairns is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a School Learning Officer.


The successful candidate will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the best possible education.


**Estimated Salary Range:** $39.45 - $40.29 per hour (casual rate)

**Job Description**


As a School Learning Officer, you will be responsible for working with classroom teachers to meet the learning goals of students, some of whom have diverse learning needs.


Your key duties will include:


  • Assisting with evaluating and assessing the learning needs of students under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Attending meetings involving parents, teachers, and specialists to discuss student progress and needs.
  • Working with students according to lesson plans given by the class teacher.
  • Providing physical assistance to students where necessary and appropriate.
  • Participating in planning days with team teachers to discuss student needs.
  • Supporting students with social/emotional needs, including supervising students who require time-out from the classroom.
  • Adhering to individual classroom rules, expectations, and behavior management plans informed by the classroom teacher.
  • Assisting with in-class support programs as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Reporting regularly to the classroom teacher on student progress.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding student information and redirecting parental enquiries concerning student progress to the classroom teacher.
  • Participating in daytime school carnivals as directed by an academic staff member.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**


To be successful in this role, you will need:


  • A Working with Children Blue Card.
  • Full support for the ethos of Catholic Education.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs would be an advantage.
