Job Overview

Infrastructure Engineers play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports digital services. They work closely with key third-party suppliers to ensure a robust infrastructure capability for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement infrastructure strategies to meet future demand.
  • Provide expert technical support for project build, test, and solution deployment activities.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain detailed documentation, including design documents, implementation plans, test plans, and support procedures.
  • Assist in developing and implementing operational policies and procedures, as well as change initiatives.
  • Participate in change management processes and communicate end-to-end implications of configuration changes.
  • Provide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to senior executives.
  • Share knowledge and expertise as a subject matter expert and aid mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations on product suitability.
  • Engage and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability.
  • Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share information.
  • Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and manage and support change, influencing and contributing to ICT strategy.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years' demonstrated experience in designing, managing, and maintaining internet gateway and/or large-scale data centre networking environments.
  • Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in designing services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and deploying network infrastructure, including Cisco Data Centre technologies like Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, nexus switches, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.
  • Demonstrated experience with Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions, VPN technologies, email, and DNS (Infoblox) solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and integrating hybrid and public cloud services.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining system architecture and design documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual, and Essential Eight.
