We are seeking a highly skilled Second Engineer to join our team at SeaLink South Australia. As a key member of our crew, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and secure operation of our vessels.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in marine engineering, with experience in shipbuilding and repair. You will be responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in maintaining the vessel's systems and equipment, as well as ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who is able to work effectively in a team environment. You will be required to communicate with passengers and crew members, and to provide assistance with loading and unloading the ferry.
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and meeting key performance indicators. You will also have a commitment to ongoing learning and development, with a desire to upskill and reskill to meet the needs of the role.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Chief Engineer in maintaining the vessel's systems and equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards
- Communicate with passengers and crew members
- Provide assistance with loading and unloading the ferry
- Meet key performance indicators and deliver high-quality results
- MED1 certification
- Current First Aid certification
- Sound working knowledge of fitting and turning, welding, boiler making, AC and DC electrics, transmission and braking systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Practical experience in shipbuilding and repair
- Working knowledge of OH&S systems and regulations
- Elements of Shipboard Safety Certificate
- Confined Space and Working at Heights Certificates
