Your primary responsibilities include fulfilling the role in accordance with public service values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain high-quality services and workplaces by adhering to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies, and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy collections on wards and in the Outpatient department as required.
  • Carry out general laboratory duties including specimen receipt, Esky packing, data entry into the laboratory information system.
  • Load specimens onto laboratory analysers under supervision.
  • Maintain competencies in Phlebotomy and Clinical Support Roles (CSR) with a low error rate.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by cleaning workbenches, trolleys, and equipment according to Queensland Health WHS and Infection Control procedures.
  • Participate in quality and service improvement activities to enhance patient care.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key competencies:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pathology test names, and specimen types.
  • Availability to work all shifts, undertake additional shifts to backfill holidays and sick leave.
  • Data entry skills and proficiency in MS Word and Excel are advantageous.
  • Ability to work responsibly and efficiently, prioritize workload, and effectively use the Laboratory Information System.
