About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Senior Malaria Research Analyst to join their team. This exciting opportunity offers a challenging and rewarding role for an experienced professional in the field of malaria research.

About Us

The Department of Drug Evaluation at the ADF Malaria and Infectious Disease Institute provides technical advice to Defence on vector borne diseases (VBDs) of military importance such as malaria and dengue. Our team comprises scientists and research assistants who perform parasitological and pharmacological investigations of new and standard antimalarials to prevent and treat drug resistant malaria.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake laboratory and office-based work including antimalarial drug analysis using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LCMS).
  • Maintain procedures and documentation for quality assurance programs to fulfill National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation requirements for drug analysis.
  • Conduct and coordinate animal technicians in in vivo tolerability, pharmacokinetics and efficacy assessment of new antimalarial candidates using animal models such as mice.

About You

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable individual with relevant experience in LCMS, malaria and/or other infectious diseases and small animal research. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and exposure to quality assurance programs, be multi-skilled in various laboratory procedures, hardworking and show foresight in pursuing their responsibilities.
