Commodity Market Researcher

McCloskey by OPIS is looking for a self-starting researcher to cover the seaborne metallurgical coal and coke market.
This role is critical to the coverage of a commodity that continues to be a pivotal raw material for steel making and energy transition.
The successful candidate will thrive in the rigors of a daily deadline and will be part of a small but motivated group of researchers.
They will also have opportunities to interface with and contribute to fundamental research within the global McCloskey raw materials team.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the commodity space as a reporter/researcher including roles as a financial reporter or market analyst.
Key responsibilities include tracking supply and demand fundamentals, reporting on metallurgical coal prices, and writing breaking market news and in-depth analytical pieces.
The researcher will be a key part of the production of the daily metallurgical coal publication and will engage actively in business development.
Additionally, they will be a public face of McCloskey in the coal space through client/stakeholder engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, and content marketing.
