Mccloskey by OPIS is seeking a self-starting journalist to cover the seaborne metallurgical coal and coke market.

About the Role:

This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track supply and demand fundamentals of the seaborne metallurgical coal and coke market.
  • Report on metallurgical coal prices daily and weekly, informing key indexes.
  • Develop a deep understanding of pricing drivers, including S&D, supply chain, and derivatives markets.
  • Write breaking market news and analytical pieces differentiating mccloskey content.
  • Research and write on big-picture issues impacting supply side economics.
  • Contribute to the production of the daily metallurgical coal publication.
  • Build a strong contact base and maintain client relationships.
  • Engage in business development, assisting account managers in sales processes.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in commodities as a reporter/researcher or financial reporter/market analyst.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Strong quantitative skills, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business/Finance, or Politics viewed favorably.
