Job Summary

The Systems Performance Engineer II plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful testing, configuration, commissioning, and maintenance of sterilization monitoring and control solutions throughout their product lifecycle. This position is responsible for verifying that all new products and product updates meet quality standards and regulatory requirements, are successfully deployed and validated at customer facilities, and that knowledge is transferred prior to operation and supported/maintained as per customer service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence
    • Communicate and collaborate with design team members.
    • Adhere to all quality standard practices.
    • Utilize quality management tools.
    • Contribute to a team effort by performing in accordance with all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles, and other directives; support the directives and decisions of higher-level management and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Delivering Results
    • Develop testing protocols, test plans, and help prepare the necessary test environment. Document system requirements, applying workflows, and perform system configurations. Review system functional specifications.
    • Prepare and perform testing on medical device sterilization control systems.
    • Assist in validation and commissioning activities carried out in the office and at customer sites.
  • Customer Relationships
    • Provide support to customers using excellent customer service and communication skills to represent STERIS positively.
    • Respond to customer tickets and work with the team to provide root-cause analysis and implement solutions.
    • Provide support to customers in troubleshooting system issues.
    • Support customer application upgrades.
    • Lead small customer projects with supervision.
    • Participate in the development and publication of system user guides.
    • Contribute to the technical training of customers.
  • People Leadership
    • May train, assist, or guide student workers or level I team members.
Requirements
  • Proficient in Jama Requirements Management with limited guidance.
  • Proficient in Jira Software and Jira Service Desk with limited guidance.
  • Proficient in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Proficient in testing, validating, commissioning, supporting, training, and documentation with oversight.
  • Proficient in creating design specifications based on user or functional specifications with limited oversight.
  • Knowledge of software verification and support concepts, principles, and systems, and working knowledge of other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil).
  • Knowledge of software development languages & operating systems, control systems, and development tools (.NET, C#, HTML/CSS, JavaScript/Angular, Web Platforms. SQL Server/SSMS, Jira or others as applicable).
  • Knowledge of sterilization methods and processes across multiple modalities.
  • Ability to perform server configuration and troubleshooting with limited oversight.
  • Skill to troubleshoot, test, evaluate, and provide creative solutions to problems during all systems development and testing phases.
  • Skill to communicate in written format and verbally.
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage competing priorities with guidance.
  • Ability to contribute to team effort of problem-solving and developing well-informed and creative solutions when data are limited.
  • Ability to document work via technical reports, diagnostic reports, validation reports, etc. with limited oversight.
  • Ability to gather and understand feedback from the service team and customers with limited oversight.
  • Ability to contribute to decision-making efforts and identify risks.
