Merchandise Planner Job Description

At Hype DC, we're seeking a talented Merchandise Planner to join our team. As a key member of our planning department, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of our business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional results. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop seasonal merchandise plans, manage inventory, and optimize stock performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop strategic plans that drive sales growth and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Manage Open to Buy (OTB) budgets and ensure stock alignment with sales forecasts and promotional calendars.
  • Analyze sales, margin, and inventory data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Collaborate with buyers to create range frameworks aligned with business objectives.
  • Forecast future sales and stock needs based on historical performance, trends, and market conditions.
  • Monitor product lifecycle and make recommendations on markdowns, reorders, or exit strategies.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a merchandise planning or inventory management role.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with advanced Excel capability.
  • Commercially savvy with a deep understanding of retail KPIs and financial levers.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Confident communicator who can influence cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships.
  • Experience using planning tools is a plus.
  • Passion for sneakers, streetwear, or fashion retail is highly regarded.
