About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Library Officer, Community Programs and Engagement to join our team at Parkes Shire Council.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering quality library services, programs, and events that cater to the interests of adult patrons and the curation and delivery of the library's local and family history service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement community programs and services that align with Council's strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with community groups, local organizations, and stakeholders to deliver programs and services that meet the needs of the community.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the library's local and family history service, including the collection, cataloging, and preservation of historical materials.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to library patrons, responding to queries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve Council's strategic objectives and deliver high-quality services to the community.

Requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Library and Information Services (or equivalent) and/or relevant experience in libraries, community groups, history, and/or events.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Desirable Skills and Background:

  • Experience in a library environment.
  • Experience working with community groups.
  • Demonstrated interest in local history.
