Bridge Leadership Role:

The successful candidate will provide leadership support to the Regional Director for Highways & Bridges, overseeing a team of bridge engineers and designers. This role involves people management, technical expertise, and strategic development.

Key responsibilities include planning, organizing, and leading project teams in the delivery, design, and documentation of project requirements; lead contract negotiations; project management and technical leadership across various multi-disciplined projects; organizing business development and strategic initiatives; monitoring output to ensure high-quality work within agreed timeframes and budgets; developing and maintaining client relationships; mentoring and developing technical staff; providing vision and leadership to team members; hiring and expanding the team; liaising with other business sectors leaders within and outside the organization; approval of employee time, expenses, and other management functions needed for day-to-day operations.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A degree in civil engineering;
  • Extensive industry experience as a Bridge Engineer recognized by clients at state level;
  • Assist other staff in team situations and share technical knowledge and expertise;
  • Understanding of design and analysis of bridges and civil structures for public and private infrastructure;
  • Flexible attitude and ability to lead or direct a group of technical staff;
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards in current engineering and construction principles, methods, and practices;
  • Track record of delivering complex multidisciplinary projects on time and to budget;
  • Professional Engineer registration with Engineers Australia or other relevant country registration;
  • Experience and interest in business development initiatives and client relations;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
