About the Audiologist Role

The audiologist will provide audiology services to Aboriginal clients in Central Australia. They will work across various clinical and community settings, focusing on preventative care and early intervention through engagement, screening, assessment, and management.

They must work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating an understanding of the social determinants of health and the philosophy of Aboriginal Community Control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hold qualifications as a qualified practitioner with Audiology Australia or Australian College of Audiology, including competency in Hearing Aid Dispensary.
  • Have broad clinical experience in primary healthcare settings, including skills in planning, coordination, and decision-making.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and interpersonal skills, including liaison and negotiation skills.
  • Develop effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for cross-cultural environments.
  • Maintain a current driver's license and ability to travel to remote locations.
  • (Desirable) Hold post-graduate qualifications in public health or be of Aboriginal descent.

This role requires excellent skills in working within a culturally sensitive environment, promoting the well-being of Aboriginal clients.
