Job Opportunity

We are seeking an Unaccredited Neurology Registrar who is focused on delivering high-quality, effective patient-centric care.

The neurology registrar will contribute to the neurology and stroke service by undertaking care of both inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of consultant neurologists in the department. The registrar will run a rapid-access category 1 clinics, including a TIA/stroke clinic and general neurology clinic.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking care of inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of consultant neurologists.
  • Running rapid-access category 1 clinics, including a TIA/stroke clinic and general neurology clinic.
  • Participating in neurology clinics, including EEG and NCS, as agreed with the head of department and the organisation.

The registrar will gain experience in managing stroke and assessment and selection of patients for acute therapy and endovascular clot retrieval. They will also gain experience in managing complex neurology patient care, both inpatient and outpatient.

Department support includes education, training, and mentorship to help the registrar gain experience in neurology and potentially formal advanced training. Opportunities for research projects in neurology are also available.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011.
  • Compliance with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening, and Vaccination policy.
  • Compliance with North Canberra Hospital Credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for medical professionals.
