High Voltage Protection Technician

This role involves working with high voltage systems and protection equipment in a variety of industries, including power generation, transmission and distribution. The successful candidate will have experience testing relays and other complex electrical systems, as well as good communication and customer liaison skills.

The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously on various protection systems in a safe and timely manner, and have the ability to investigate and solve technical problems. They will also have strong computer literacy skills and be able to interpret schematic diagrams.

As part of our field service teams, you will be working under instructions from senior technicians on a range of high voltage projects. This may involve primary testing of instrument transformers, circuit breakers and switchboards, as well as secondary injection testing of all protection system types.

You will be working in a team environment, assisting with the completion of test certificate documentation and other job reporting requirements. You will also need to comply with company OHS and business systems and procedures.

  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and customer liaison skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of high voltage systems and protection equipment
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to think logically

Job Requirements:

  • Electrical trade qualification (required)
  • Certificate 4 Electrotechnology (desired)
  • Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (desired)
