Job Overview

As a Counselor/Duty Worker, you will be responsible for providing a range of services to individuals including counseling and casework. This may also involve case management and group work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Service to Clients
  • Provide individual counseling, group work and generalist social work services.
  • Provide casework including intake, assessment, case plan development, advocacy, referral and report writing.
  • Participate effectively in team processes.
  • Act as a resource to other team members, sharing expertise to facilitate best outcomes for clients.
  • Participate in the Duty Service.
  • Ensure reporting requirements for the program are undertaken.
  • Ensure case notes and other client information is recorded according to service standards and practice.

Community Education and Training:

  • Provide Community Education and Training activities as negotiated with Team Leader Generalist Counselling.
  • Participate in networks, the steering committee and other relevant bodies as appropriate.
  • Ensure a flow of information between relevant external stakeholders and client/stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Social Work or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in working with individuals with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated Counseling and Case work experience.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of therapeutic interventions and theoretical frameworks.
  • Demonstrated skills in working cross-culturally.
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills (written and oral).
  • High level organisational skills.
