The role of a data governance professional at our organisation is to drive impact through data governance, champion best practices in data management, and ensure data accuracy and compliance.

About the Role

As a data governance lead, you will work across departments to define and deliver our organisation's data strategy, develop robust policies and procedures, and ensure data is accessible, accurate, and aligned with compliance standards. You will collaborate with security and architecture teams to ensure governance is embedded in data solutions and promote best practices in dashboard and visualisation management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion organisational understanding of data's role and value
  • Define and implement data governance policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Monitor alignment to governance frameworks and legal compliance (e.g. privacy act)
  • Collaborate with security and architecture teams to ensure governance is embedded in data solutions
  • Promote best practices in dashboard and visualisation management
  • Support leaders in developing meaningful reports and control systems
  • Improve stewardship and metadata management processes
  • Ensure large and complex data sets are usable, understandable, and well-governed

Requirements

We're seeking a highly skilled data governance professional with experience in cloud platforms, Power BI, Python, SQL, GIT, and XML. You should have hands-on experience with data governance tools and a strong understanding of metadata management, lineage, and data quality. A bachelor's degree in business, statistics, IT or related field is required.
