Data Governance Specialist Role

Job Description

A seasoned data governance professional is required to champion organisational understanding of data's role and value. This involves defining and implementing data governance policies, procedures, and quality standards, as well as monitoring alignment to governance frameworks and legal compliance.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Champion organisational understanding of data's role and value
  • Define and implement data governance policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Monitor alignment to governance frameworks and legal compliance (e.g. Privacy Act)
  • Collaborate with Security and Architecture teams to ensure governance is embedded in data solutions
  • Promote best practices in dashboard and visualisation management
  • Support leaders in developing meaningful reports and control systems
  • Improve stewardship and metadata management processes
  • Ensure large and complex data sets are usable, understandable, and well-governed
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), skilled in Power BI, and exposure to Python, SQL, GIT, and XML. Hands-on experience with data governance tools (e.g. MS Purview or equivalent) is essential, as well as a strong understanding of metadata management, lineage, and data quality.
