We are seeking an exceptional Senior Engineering Leader to spearhead our machine learning platforms, driving innovation and excellence in this critical area.

About the Role

In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for designing, building, and evolving tools, infrastructure, templates, and capabilities that empower our data science community and engineering teams to deliver business value. You will work closely with customer-facing product owners and platform engineers to design, build, and run 'platforms' that enable customer value at greater quality, velocity, and safety.

As a Senior Engineering Leader, you will help create platforms that are loved by our engineers and data science community. We are keen on hearing from ML platform engineers who are passionate about infrastructure as code, software eating the world, LLMs, GPUs, and High Performance Compute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Technical Leadership: Provide strategic technical leadership and mentorship, driving best practices for ML platform architecture, deployment, and scaling.
  • Platform Development: Oversee the design and development of scalable and resilient ML infrastructure, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Tooling and Frameworks: Lead the development of tools and frameworks to streamline the ML lifecycle, from data ingestion to model deployment and monitoring.
  • Culture Building: Participate in cross-group activities to build a culture of one team, raising both engineering capability and technology solutions to drive our strategy.

Your Background

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A deep understanding of AWS services, including EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, Step function, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM, VPC, Route 53, Cloudwatch, and EKS.
  • Expertise in AWS ML services like SageMaker, AWS Glue, Amazon EMR, and familiarity with AWS Bedrock, Amazon Q services, NVIDIA GPUs, and related frameworks, LLMs.
  • Experience with the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting (Bash, Python) and hands-on experience with infrastructure as code tools like AWS CloudFormation.

Salary Range

The estimated annual salary for this role is AU$170,000 - AU$200,000, depending on your experience and qualifications.

Location

This role is based in Melbourne or Perth, with flexibility to work remotely. We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done, ensuring they have at least half their time each month connecting in office.
