About the Role

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking a highly skilled Commercial and Contract Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Assets and Technology Branch, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of major construction projects at our Antarctic and sub-Antarctic stations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate commercial outcomes and contracts for major construction projects
  • Provide input into budget development and delivery, legal, insurance, government policy, and other contractual requirements
  • Work closely with Project Leads to ensure projects are managed within budgets and comply with contract requirements
  • Engage with Department stakeholders, external consultants, potential industry partners, other government agencies, and broader community networks
Requirements
  • Experience in commercial and contract management of large infrastructure projects within the public sector framework, including an understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs)
  • Proven ability to successfully manage commercial/financial, legal, and government policy components for major projects
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, suggest areas for improvement, and develop best practice approaches to dealing with project risks and issues
  • Demonstrated high-level communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with influence and manage stakeholder relationships and networks
