**Who we are**
The Finance Division supports the department to be efficient, effective, and financially sustainable through our business partnerships, the Finance Service Charter and our specialist centres of excellence. The division provides financial and management advice and support to the department, the offices of the minister and assistant ministers and to industry stakeholders. The division delivers on business objectives through the provision of high-quality customer service, advice and support and a nationally consistent approach to business, with consideration to the government’s tight fiscal environment, its significant reform agenda and the department’s imperative to maintain financial sustainability.

The Property, Infrastructure and Physical Security Branch leads the department’s:

- Strategic approach to emergency management, security, property acquisition, management, maintenance, and disposal to drive sustainable commercial outcomes that contribute to long term asset planning and governance, while ensuring to safety and compliance.
- Strategic approach to manage, monitor, and report on the efficient and effective use of property.
- Related resources, with a focus on minimising waste and enabling sustainable outcomes while driving Net Zero targets.

The Property Planning and Capital Works section is responsible for monitoring and managing the departments accommodation utilisation as well as the execution of capital works projects.

**The Job**
As Assistant Director - Property (Hobart Property), supported by a small team, you will be responsible for supporting the property planning and capital works team in the management and administration of both accommodation and capital works in Tasmania including the following key duties:

- Leading and managing a team that is responsible for a range of property-oriented services and tasks to support operational needs across departmental Tasmanian sites, including but not limited to assets, facilities maintenance, property management issues.
- Lead a team that delivers capital project works across property and security in Tasmania, including relevant procurement activities, in consultation with the WOAG property service provider.
- Provide advice on Tasmanian property leasing, property planning and strategy implementation.
- Provide support to Directors, Accommodation planning and capital works teams.
- Maintain/draft policy and procedures associated with DCCEEW accommodation.
- Engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.
- Resolve real property issues using expertise, identifying alternative courses of action. Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Produce briefs, reports and other correspondence.
- Managing the performance of the Whole of Australian Government (WOAG) Property Services Provider.

**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
- Manage the delivery of property and project management services at a range of properties.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplined team that inspires, empowers and drives positive change in delivering the strategic, policy and operational requirements of the Department.
- Demonstrated business management experience with a good understanding of Whole of Government financial policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Experience and proven effectiveness in stakeholder management and service delivery.
- Experience and proven effectiveness in managing projects and contracts.
- An ability to present complex information in a simplified manner to deliver business outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Demonstrated capability to interact with all levels of the organisation, including at an executive level, and to negotiate with a range of stakeholders.
- A proven ability to work as part of a team and to drive service delivery performance.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and to work with stakeholders remotely
- Ability to develop, maintain and nurture a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to critically think and problem solve complex issues.
- Ability to design and set policies and procedures associated with project management.
- Ability to mentor and supervise junior staff.
- Demonstrates public service professionalism and probity and fosters these qualities in the team
