Indigenous Student Education Officer

The Indigenous Student Education Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring engagement and support is provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Postgraduate and Vocational Education students at RMIT University.
This position requires a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and community needs, particularly the educational and personal support needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with staff, students, and the community, and a demonstrated ability to manage sensitive matters in a professional and culturally appropriate manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building strong purposeful links with communities and students
- Working collaboratively and in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting the retention, progression, and successful completion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and community needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage sensitive matters
- Proven ability to access and deliver information effectively to a diverse range of clients and stakeholders
- Proven strong organisational skills and analytical and problem-solving skills
Desirable: A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or an equivalent level of expertise in providing support and services to tertiary students.
