About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our Allied Health team on a casual basis at Newcastle Private Hospital.

This role provides the opportunity to experience a varied caseload across areas including general medical, ICU, cardiac, maternity, and oncology.

As a Social Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a high standard of clinical care
  • Working independently as part of the healthcare team
  • Contributing to the multidisciplinary care of our patients
  • Involvement with both inpatient and outpatient services
  • Communicating effectively with all stakeholders including doctors, allied health, nurses, patients, and their families
Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing high-quality clinical care to patients
  • Working collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of patient care plans
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Social Work and eligibility with the AASW
  • Minimum 3 years' previous experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in adult acute inpatient hospital experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Skills and experience working in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team
  • Customer-focused service delivery
