Role Overview

This position is part of the Community Education and Engagement Team, focused on delivering smoking cessation programs and Population Health Education and Engagement messages to Indigenous people in the Darwin Region.

The role will contribute to the delivery of health promotion activities at schools and community events, with a focus on young Indigenous people. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team, interacting with Aboriginal people from diverse backgrounds and displaying sensitivity to their culture, history, and current social impacts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of smoking cessation and support programs information to Indigenous people
  • Participation in the delivery of health promotion activities at schools and community events
  • Delivery of health promotion and education information and activities at school and community events
  • Influence and engage with stakeholders to ensure effective smoking control outcomes
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with Aboriginal people from diverse backgrounds, with sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, history, and current social impacts
  • Strong organisational skills to plan, manage and prioritise tasks and resources to deliver outcomes within time considerations
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, cope with pressure and meet tight timelines
  • Sound presentation skills and confidence to speak to groups
  • Ability to interact and effectively engage with a range of administrative staff, medical practitioners, nurses, and other health professionals
