About the Role

The Academic Services Officer plays a vital role in supporting the Faculty of Science's core functions, ensuring the timely delivery of graduate and undergraduate programs. This position focuses on Special Consideration, teaching processes, student inquiries, and administrative tasks, while maintaining high-quality, client-focused service across science courses and subjects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the faculty's core teaching processes, including Special Consideration, Academic Misconduct, Results entry, and ad-hoc activities as required.
  • Provide support for the efficient administration of academic programs, including course and subject change processes and student handbook coordination.
  • Provide executive support for academic committees, including managing meeting schedules, attendance lists, agendas, and minutes.
  • Contribute to overall team priorities and activities as needed, including supporting student events and programs and assisting with projects and administration across peak period activities.
Requirements

You will ideally have high-level interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with academic and professional staff, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Additionally, you will demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to interpret and provide advice on established policies and procedures.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, and experience within an academic administration, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience, education, and/or training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, as well as independently when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work efficiently and accurately in a busy and complex environment with large volumes of activity.
  • Knowledge of student information systems and the tertiary education sector.
