Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of environmental compliance programs, undertaking audits and inspections, and reporting to environmental authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental compliance programs to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of site and office environments to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Prepare and submit reports to environmental authorities, including incident reports and environmental impact assessments.
  • Participate in the Health and Safety Environmental (ISO) certification process to ensure our company meets the highest standards of environmental sustainability.
  • Travel to our facilities interstate to conduct site visits and inspections.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure environmental activities are carried out in accordance with our company's policies and procedures.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and conduct incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with site and office teams to ensure compliance with current environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and data using company and external systems.
  • Develop and deliver environmental awareness training sessions for employees and contractors.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding environmental issues that may affect them.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures to prevent workplace incidents.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Provide advice to managers on effective ways to manage their teams and contractors in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Management or Environmental Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related industry, in an environmental role.
  • Excellent knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A high level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of computer skills.
  • A high level of organisational skills.
  • A passion for continual improvement of environmental performance.
  • Ability to lead and motivate on-site teams in environmentally sustainable practices.
  • Auditor qualifications are highly desirable.
